It is easier to return to the carriageway at this driveway dropped kerb rather than the location specially designed for this purpose (see #71159). Also, the original implementation of this cycle provision included a 'Give Way' triangle at each driveway, now blacked out.
The toucan crossing only has a call box on one side (toucans are meant to have one to each side of the crossing point), and since it has a nearside signal, it is facing away from on-coming cyclists.
